Where a mechanism has genuinely failed, the replacement is matched to your door rather than whatever is closest to hand. Multipoint gearboxes vary between manufacturers and backsets, so the right part means the door closes and locks the way it did when it was new instead of needing a shove.
If you have moved house, lost a key or had a tenant change over, cylinders can be changed or rekeyed so old keys stop working. Anti-snap cylinders are fitted where the door will take them.

Common questions about lock repairs & replacement
My lock is stiff but still works. Is it worth calling now?
Yes, and it is usually cheaper. A stiff lock is often an alignment or wear issue that can be adjusted out; left alone it tends to end up as a jammed door and an emergency call.
Do I need a new lock after moving house?
You do not always need new locks, but you should not be relying on keys other people may still hold. Changing the cylinder is quick and inexpensive and means only your keys work.
Can you match a lock to an unusual door?
Usually. Multipoint mechanisms differ by manufacturer, backset and centres, and the right one is sourced rather than forcing an approximate fit.
Are the locks you fit insurance approved?
Locks are chosen to suit the door and what you need from it, including anti-snap cylinders where the door will take them. Tell Steve what your insurer asks for and he will fit to it.

Brilliant, quick service. Steve was here within an hour, on a Saturday, got us into the house, and changed the sticking lock. Very reasonable charges too, very happy to recommend.

Steve was awesome. My issues were so much more complicated that was originally thought. It wasnt an easy job. He came in was amazing about it. We recently moved to Leominster and found that one of our double glazed French doors had dropped leaving a large gap and a lock that struggled to work. We spoke to one company who said the door would almost certainly need replacing at a cost of approximately £2000! I then found Steve's details online and gave him a call. He was friendly and helpful from the off. He came and looked at the door, took it off the hinges and with a few adjustments he had it working perfectly. Smooth opening, no gap and a lock that worked like new, all for a very reasonable price. I cannot recommend Steve enough and he will be doing more work for us in the very near future.

Steve came out the same day I messaged him to fix a huge issue with a gap that in my uvcp patio doors. Was sceptical as do not really trust trades people to not rip me off! No one had been able to fix them, prior to Steve coming out and he only charged small fee, which really made a huge difference. Forever grateful as kitchen for first time in 3 years warm!!!
